1. Family Business and Entrepreneurship - Keeping the Spirit Alive!
A Faculty Development Program by Prof Chitra Singla, IIM- Ahmedabad
IILM organised a three-day faculty workshop on Entrepreneurship and Family Business Management at the Lodhi Road campus from 5th to 7th August, 2018, conducted by Prof.ChitraSingla from IIM Ahmedabad. The faculty chair of "Young Entrepreneurs Program" at IIM Ahmedabad and a well-known thought leader who has inspired many through her teaching, Prof Singhla is at the forefront of Research for Entrepreneurs and Family Businesses in India. The workshop sensitised and enhanced the skill-set of the IILM faculty who teach students at IILM, a sizable number of whom are either planning to join or are already engaged in their family businesses. The workshop, attended by faculty from all IILM campuses and some family business owners and entrepreneurs, took the learning curve of all the attendees to a higher level.
2. Managing Information Systems - Technology Leads the Way!
A Faculty Development Program by Prof. Sanjay Verma, IIM-Ahmedabad
IILM organised a half day faculty workshop on Managing Information Systems at Lodhi Road campus on 28th August, 2018, conducted by Prof. Sanjay Vermawho has been associated with IIM Ahmedabad since 1999 and is the chair for "Strategic IT Management for CIOs" who has completed a fellowship from IIM-Kolkata and an MBA in marketing. An excellent orator and an inspirational educator, Prof. Sanjay Verma is dynamic in his classroom impressing students and faculty alike. Since managing information systems is an imperative skill with technology becoming critical for the success of all organisations, this workshop, attended by faculty from all IILM campuses, proved extremely useful and informative for the attendees.
3. Train The Trainer Marketplace Simulation Workshop on Conscious Capitalism
IILM Lodhi Road organised a three-day Train The Trainer workshop on Conscious Capitalism market place simulation during 3rd to 5th September 2018. Professor Ernest Cadotte, John W. Fisher, Professor of Innovative Learning at the University of Tennessee, is a well known professional for entrepreneurial decision-making and novel teaching approaches in business and marketing. Dr Rajkumar Phatate, a seasoned National and International level Entrepreneurship Trainer, working at FLAME University, Pune is professional trainer and mentor in entrepreneurship development and launched a small venture. 25 participants representing 15 Central, State & Private Universities as well as 10 faculty members from IILM Lodhi Road, Gurugram, and Greater Noida, enthusiastically participated in the workshop that was aimed at preparing instructors to effectively administer entrepreneurial training, address challenges of starting new ventures, and also compel entrepreneurs to consider ethical, environmental, and human resource issues. The participants had a hands on exposure with market simulation games for business that sparked the joy of learning and empowered students to transform practice into skill. It was a great learning experience by practice.
4. Connections: A new paradigm of the socio-economic world
A Faculty Development Program by Dr. Anindya Chakrabarti, IIM Ahmedabad
Dr. Anindya Chakrabarti, Assistant Professor Economics Area at IIM Ahmedabad, conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the topic 'Connections: A new paradigm of the socio-economic world' on 27th September, 2018 at IILM Campus, Lodhi Road. Prof. Chakrabarti elaborated how interconnectivity, that has always existed in societies, has in today's digital age become even more widespread opening up new frontiers of research. He discussed the innovative concept of how network science is useful in mapping the outreach and understanding the spread of diseases, epidemics, financial crisis, market volatility, migration and rumours across countries and world. The workshop was well-received by the IILM Faculty exposing them to a new line of thought.
5. Interconnected Nature of all Functional Areas by Prof Saral Mukherjee, IIM-Ahmedabad
A Faculty Development Program by Prof Saral Mukherjee, IIM-Ahmedabad
A session on 'Interconnected Nature of all Functional areas (Marketing, HR, Operations, Finance ) through a case study' was conducted by Prof Saral Mukherjee, an Associate Professor of Production and Quantitative Methods at IIM-A who has specialized in Operations Management with deep involvement in research, teaching and consulting in the area of supply chain redesign, operations strategy, marketing-operations interface, inventory policies, process analysis, project management and also the chairperson of IIM A Case Centre since 2014.
The FDP was in two sessions spread over 2 sessions. In the first session he discussed thecase study based teaching methodology at IIM-A and its effectiveness in augmenting the learning process where he addressed issues such as the right size, cross functionality, right way conducting a case discussion in class and analysis of a case conclusion. The next session was a demonstration class involving a student group where he taught the same case. He took up the case discussion session with PGDM students of IILM with the IILM faculty as observers. It was a great learning experience for the student and a first-hand learning experience for the faculty.
6. Effective Market Access in Modes by Prof Rupa Chanda, IIM - Bangalore

On 17th October, 2018, Prof.Rupa Chanda, from IIM-B visited IILM, Lodhi Road and interacted with the Faculty. The interaction began with a discussion on effective market access in modes 1 to mode 4 where Mode 1 covers services from the territory of one country to the other; Mode 2 occurs where consumption occurs aboard; Mode 3 happens when a foreign entity establishes presence in another country and Mode 4 refers to movement of labour. She discussed how India has successfully signed free trade agreement with Japan and Koreas and is trying to negotiate free trade agreement with ASEAN+6 and EU. In all these cases, mode 4 is the major issue. e.g. India wants concessions from EU on movement of skilled IT professionals within EU. We are witnessing increasing protectionism trends. India's foreign policy framework is characterized by inefficiencies and there is still lack of coherence. She also spoke about India's trade deficit, the new trend is emerging in the form of Servicification of Manufacturing, the results of rising automation in manufacturing, and how Harmonized System (HS) codes are bound to change as the structure of economies shift to new services sectors. This was an enlightening session where Dr Rupa Chanda impressed the Faculty with her knowledge and passion for the subject.
7. Research Strategies by Dr Denish Shah,Georgia State University

Dr Denish Shah, Barbara and Elmer Sunday Professor, Associate Professor of Marketing, and Director of the MS-Marketing program at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Georgia State University had a session with Faculty at IILM Institute for Higher Education, Lodhi Road Campus, NewDelhi on October 24, 2018. Professor Shah discussed his research area, which focuses on issues pertaining to linking marketing strategies to the financial performance of the firms. Professor Shah explained various approaches to research and about his own research approaches which entail developing new conceptual frameworks and/or conducting quantitative analyses to develop data-driven managerial insights. Professor Shah's researches have been published in the Journal of Marketing Research, Harvard Business Review, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Sloan Management Review and several other outlets. Professor Shah explained what reviewers generally look for in a quality research paper. He emphasised upon the importance of contribution of the research in academia and its impact on the business world. The session was very useful for the Faculty especially those currently in research and those who were planning to work on research projects in the near future.
