{"id":2341,"date":"2017-05-16T15:33:02","date_gmt":"2017-05-16T10:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/?p=2341"},"modified":"2017-05-16T15:33:02","modified_gmt":"2017-05-16T10:03:02","slug":"experience-lifetime-iilms-global-study-program-international-school-management-germany","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iilm.edu\/blog\/experience-lifetime-iilms-global-study-program-international-school-management-germany\/","title":{"rendered":"Experience of a lifetime &#8211; IILM\u2019s Global Study Program at International School of Management, Germany."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There\u2019s a big world beyond the IILM campus, and a student can experience it through the golden opportunity given by IILM Undergraduate Business School as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iilm.edu\/blog\/global-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Study Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to be a responsible leader in today\u2019s time students need to have first hand experience of cultures, organizations, and business practices around the world. In order to cater to this requirement IILM\u2019s global offerings encompass a mandatory 3 week global study program.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This program was organized for the first time for our stage 1 students of 2015 &#8211;\u00a018 batch. Based on the preferences, students were taken to International School of Management, at Hamburg, Germany. The entire program was sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iilm.edu\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IILM<\/a> and the partner school except that the students had to bear extra expenditures like food, travelling etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the 8<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0of August 2016, 50 students collectively from both Lodhi Road and Gurgaon campus boarded Emirates flight for Hamburg, Germany along with the three faculty members. Ms Philipa , International Office Manager, ISM received us at the airport along with a coach to facilitate commutation from airport to the A&amp;O Hostel where the students were given accommodation. While the travel itself, the students were handed over the ISD sim cards so that they can make calls to their parents and inform them about their safe arrival at Hamburg.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition with this the students were also explained about the rules and regulations to be followed at the hostel. Each and every student was provided on the same day with a train\/bus card to travel nearby location for free of cost.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The students were also provided with a unique identity card inorder to seek entry into International School of Management, Hamburg, Germany.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This three weeks program was a blend of two modules, industry visits and cultural immersions. A highlight of this interesting curriculum is here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. Strategic Management: Prof. Qeis Kamran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The course covered the basics of strategic management, key elements, current trends in strategy, strategy thinking styles, the role of resources and knowledge, branding, decision making, organizational politics, international and collaborative strategies, strategy and innovation.\u00a0 Module also introduced Prof. Kamran\u2019s six forces model which challenged Porter\u2019s five forces. This module was delivered through lectures, case study and visit to Google. The students appreciated the delivery of the course.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The professor made use of case studies such as\u00a0 Volkswagen\u2019s Clean Diesel Dilemma; University of Michigan; WDI Publishing, inorder to<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation &#8211;\u00a0Prof. A. Schonknecht<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Course content included entrepreneurship and business development, innovation and business ideas, innovation strategy, business model development and business plan development. The module was delivered through lecture mode with the help of ppt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Industrial and Cultural Visits in Germany\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Google <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4222-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2343 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4222-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Learning Outcome: The students were able to relate the concepts learnt in the classroom. They learnt about the various strategies adopted by Google. This visit was a part of the module Strategic Management. A pre and post briefing reinforced the concepts delivered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Feedback: Well appreciated by the students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Lufthansa Technik<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4607-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2347 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4607-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"392\" \/><\/a>Learning Outcome: The students were able to witness the manufacturing and servicing of airplanes and learnt about the various ways a product is modified keeping in consideration the customer\u2019s requirements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Feedback: The students could not relate very well to the visit as it was more apt for engineering students.\u00a0 It also became tiring for students to walk around the entire facility spread in acres. For all visits, transport arrangements must be looked into in the future programs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><br \/>\nH<\/strong><strong>amburg City Tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4023-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-2348 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4023-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a>Learning Outcome: The students were informed and explained about the Hamburg city\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 heritage and culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Feedback: Liked and appreciated by the students<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Hamburg Harbor:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:8080\/custom\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4044-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2349 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.iilm.edu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_4044-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"229\" \/><\/a>Learning Outcome: The students got to experience Germany\u2019s largest port &#8211;\u00a0its gateway to the world.
