Education Philosophy |
We at the school of design view design education holistically. Teaching a set of technical skills is not our idea of professional design education. To teach design one has to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, under professional supervision. There has to be a one to one interaction between the teacher and the student. It is our strong belief that teaching of design is best done in a multidisciplinary environment. |

Academic Programme |
The philosophy behind this programme is a synthesis of the logic of Science and studies in liberal arts. It also provides an interdisciplinary and progressive knowledge of design with a focus and understanding of the discipline specialization suited to the professional design practice.
All graduate students are first admitted into a two semester (one year) foundation programme. After successfully completing the foundation programme they branch out into different disciplines.
The programme is based on the understanding of the fundamentals of design, the required skills and getting exposure & experience through a structured and instruction based curriculum. In the final years the students have to take up independent and well researched project thesis. This helps in inculcating in them professional approach. |

This is a two semester (1 year) programme for entry into any three-year graduate diploma in design programme. It is designed to help students to develop skills attitude and sensitivity required for further specialization in specific areas of design.

Graduate Programme in Communication Design |
The Communication Design programme educates and trains designers for the communication needs of industry and society. In this programme emphasis is placed on the conception, creation, planning and realization of visual solutions to complex problems in contemporary culture. Students integrate methodology, prototyping, aesthetics, human factors, technology, materials, context and audience to develop strategies and solutions that give form to print, screen and the built environment. Faculty emphasizes the objectives of design rather than the process of production, and encourages innovative visual ideas that inform, interpret, instruct or persuade the intended user across the spectrum of application.
Communication Design activities include design for printed media, such as books, magazines, brochures, posters, newspapers, information graphics, and the creation of symbols and corporate identification devices. The profession also includes packaging, point-of-purchase display, product graphics, and environmental graphic design, as well as animation, computer-based multimedia, interface and interaction design. |

| Graduate Programme in Animation Design |
| Animation is a wonderful media for mass communication especially for a culturally diverse country like India . The aim of this programme is to give the required knowledge of the various animation skills and techniques to the students. This will help the students to independently handle the computer animation process from storyboard to a complete film. In the initial stages of the discipline the basic skills, knowledge of films, communication and its social and cultural relationship are introduced to the students. The students are well grounded in the different techniques of 2D and 3D animation. The learning of the art, craft and business side of the medium are the bases of this programme. |

| Graduate Programme in Industrial Design |
| Product Design |
Product design concerns itself with the design of every conceivable product that is used in our day-to-day existence. It encourages artistic creativity along with functional usage, craftsmanship, and personal expression while serving the larger goals.
Product design is comparatively new and one of the fastest growing Design professions all over the world, especially here in India. The past decade has seen a rapid growth in the product manufacturing industry-creating a need for technology savvy, professional product designers.
The curriculum has been designed to sensitize students to learn and deal with various materials, environment and technology. Deriving 3 D forms suiting functionality and aesthetic. Inputs to visualizing 3 D forms and bring them to prototype which can be taken to manufacturing. |

| Interior and Furniture Design |
By definitions within this discipline create spaces and spatial relationships with on interiors of buildings. These help in creating environment that meet the physical and psychological needs of the individuals who use them, whether they are personal spaces or public spaces.
The programme introduces the students to the principles, relationships and balance of interactivity forces which create and control the interior environment in which people live, work and entertain. It also develops their ability to manipulate space, light, furniture and furnishings of an interior. They learn to explore the functional, visual, spatial and environmental aspects of interior design. |

| Exhibition Design |
| Exhibition involves both spatial/ environment and communications. In today's world there is a need for designers who can deal with communications in spatial and three-dimensional terms for various types of trade fairs, museums and exhibitions. Our programme is designed to develop and enable the student to comprehend, conceptualize, and express and communicate through creative usage of spaces, elements, 3- dimensional forms and multimedia. |
