Education Philosophy
We at the school of design view design education holistically. Teaching a set of technical skills is not our idea of professional design education. To teach design one has to combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills, under professional supervision. There has to be a one to one interaction between the teacher and the student. It is our strong belief that teaching of design is best done in a multidisciplinary environment.
Academic Programme
The philosophy behind this programme is a synthesis of the logic of Science and studies in liberal arts. It also provides an interdisciplinary and progressive knowledge of design with a focus and understanding of the discipline specialization suited to the professional design practice.
All graduate students are first admitted into a two semester (one year) foundation programme. After successfully completing the foundation programme they branch out into different disciplines.
The programme is based on the understanding of the fundamentals of design, the required skills and getting exposure & experience through a structured and instruction based curriculum. In the final years the students have to take up independent and well researched project thesis. This helps in inculcating in them professional approach.
