Career Management Center

The Career Management Center is a unique initiative of IILM Institute for Higher Education. It has as its foundation the aim of providing a comprehensive array of services and support for its students and alumni that will assist them in their life-long career development and placement.


The CMC acts as a central hub for all student development and placement related activities and is a repository of all information and resources. It builds in its students the competencies that are valued by prospective employers, forecasting those that will be essential from a future perspective. It provides a forum for future employers to articulate their human resource needs, and accordingly, groom and recommend students for internships and placement. Programmes here encompass the Alumni Advantage Programme and Lateral Placement Planning among others.

The CMC recognizes that student knowledge, skills and attitude play a vital role in their career choices. With this in mind it facilitates various tests to measure the students’ career related competencies, and develop them to the fullest extent.

 1. Placement (Employment)


The division facilitates Summer Internship and Final Employment activities including various other year long activities for a better understanding of the corporate world. Here s a bird s eye-view of the work undertaken:

 2. Assessment Centre


Aptitude, attitude, competencies, interests, personality and values play an important role in career choices. Assessment Centre pays attention to this aspect and measures students behavioural and job related competencies. It undertakes the following to enable them to make right career choices:

Psychometric Analysis helps in competency mapping & further career counseling & mentoring:

  • David s Battery of Deferential Ability

 3. Life Skills


Life Skills, or the lack of them, could make the difference between success and failure. The term ‘Life skills’ implies a cluster of personality traits that are as essential for success and survival, as domain skills. Success today requires an individual to take control of his life, and the place to start is with the self. The IILM programme goes far beyond developing communication skills or creating a visual impression, and seeks to make dramatic changes to the student’s sense of self-worth, while nurturing him as a social being.

Leadership and the potential to solve problems is an essential attribute for the manager of today. The Life Skills programme will train budding managers in the skills required for decision making, taking initiative and influencing others.

This programme is vigorous and is administered by in house Trainers who are experts in this Domain and have worked with some of the companies that are known for best practices in Training and development. We also have Domain specialists who have been invited to enrich the scope of learning for some of the modules.

The programme is sustained through five terms and includes:-

  • Managing and empowering self
  • Business Etiquette and personal grooming
  • Workplace ethics
  • Interpersonal skills - includes emotional intelligence
  • Selling Skills and Summer Internship Preparatory workshops
  • Leadership and influencing skills
  • The Corporate Transition

The interesting bit is that maximum part of the sessions are based on activities, role plays case studies. Therefore the sections have been broken into two groups so that they are effective and each and every student gets focused attention.

 4. Alumni Network


The Alumni Network aims at creating opportunities for the alumni by building and strengthening a network of former students, and serving as a passage to Showcase alumni accomplishment and in turn brand building for the institute.

One of the greatest resources available to us as an MBA Institute is our Alumni network. Alumni play a key role in recruiting our students for jobs and internships in their companies, but they also volunteer their time to mentor and coach the students throughout their career.

Initiatives that have been planned for our alumni:

  • Access to Library for our Alumnus.
  • Planned speaker sessions where they can interact with the current batch and encourage them on various issues pertaining to their career and academics.
  • Informal Luncheon – dinner organized for our former students.

 5. HR Network


Industry Interaction: CMC acts as a hub for all corporate affairs activities. It acts as a catalyst in so far as the group s relationship with key functionaries in the corporate and academic world. CMC would participate in HR Summits and network with CII, FICCI etc. Few of the important summits attended/participated are as follows:

  • TIE-The Indus Entrepreneurs Conference 2008 (Hotel ITC Maurya, New Delhi, Oct.22-24’08)

  • CII HRM Summit 2008 (Shereton Hotel, Saket, New Delhi, Aug.5-6, 2008)

Corporate Connect at IILM : The enterprising and industrious students at IILM have valuable inputs and skills taught to them in the classrooms by the best of faculty. However, to bridge a gap between the theoretical and practical aspects of the curriculum, industry and Corporate Interaction is extremely important. The CMC recognizes this need and addresses it through the Corporate Connect@Placements. Regular associations and meeting with Corporate provide industry exposure to the students and enable them to pick up skills besides what is being imparted in the classrooms.
