Monitor University a part of the Monitor Group, U.S is conducting a student training programme
on employability skills. from Thursday, 7th February to Saturday, 9th February 2008.
The Monitor Group’s roots can be traced back to Harvard business School, where a number of its
founding employees have studied and taught. The firm itself was founded in early 1980’s by
professors of Harvard Business School.
A key facet of our approach is the sustained investment in thought leadership, which generates
unrivalled intellectual capital for our clients. World renowned management thinkers such as
Michael Porter, Tim Copeland and Michael Jensen are all a part of the Monitor Group and key
drivers of our thought leadership.
We also operate through a network of group companies I advisory services (1500 people), capital
($2Bn), education and research, which enables us to organize the best resources possible for any
client problem.
Over the last two and a half decades, the Monitor Group has been hiring business school
graduates from renowned universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Nothwestern, Cambridge,
Oxford, LBS and MIT. The experience of selecting candidates from amongst the best academic
institutes and monitoring their performance and training needs within the group has created a
unique perspective and understanding of relevant skills that help these candidates become
effective contributor, both as individuals and as team members.
Monitor University, the educational arm of the Monitor Group, provides an umbrella under
which the firm creates and sustains both research and advisory based relationships with leading
academics around the world.
The University is launching a new and innovative program, Catapult, to provide a transition
platform to students at universities globally. It stems from our experience as a recruiter and aims
to help high potential students become successful professionals.
While there is a strong consensus on the fact that sustained competitive advantage in today’s
global knowledge economy is highly dependent on the technical and analytic skills of individual
workers, there is also a growing concern among corporations across the world, including in India
that the technical skills alone are not enough for employees to be effective in their respective
roles. While there are a number of programs aimed at the ‘average’ student, Catapult is unique in
terms of its curriculum design and focus on the high caliber and career focused individuals.
While most of the top performing students have strong analytical skills, they lack the exposure
and ability to deploy these skills in real time, with high quality colleagues, in demanding
organizations, against real objectives, and under the pressure of real deadlines. Catapult is
designed to act as an orientation for students while they are in school to help them understand the
expectations and dynamics at work and prepare them for a smooth transition.
IILM’s refreshingly different orientation towards, training programs i.e. segmenting students as
per their potential and aligning training programs to their needs makes it an ideal candidate for
Catapult program. This programme has been designed for the high caliber/top students of the
Institute.
The Catapult courses will be better suited for the batch of students who according to the internal
segmentation is high on employability and will need support on the transition to the corporate
world.
The Catapult course is module is being delivered by Dr Stephen C Szaras, Senior faculty,
Monitor University. He is a PhD from Harvard. Dr Szaraz has worked with clients in the
speciality chemicals, healthcare, life sciences and higher education industries. He has played an
ongoing role in identifying, managing and facilitating the transfer of Monitor Group knowledge
and intellectual property, both within and outside the group. |
